Abstract

Due to the importance of physical abilities and the necessity of coaches identifying the percentage of contribution the researchers aimed at studying the matches of the Iraqi team. The researchers noticed a great weakness in The Iraqi Sitting volleyball Team match’s results. Both researchers attribute these results to the weakness in physical abilities and defensive skills. Thus, this research aimed at identifying the weakness and strengths of players so as to propose a training program to uplift the skill level of players. The aim of the research is to identify the percentage of contribution of some physical abilities on the level of defensive skills performance accuracy in sitting volleyball. The hypothesis of the research was that there is a percentage of contribution some physical abilities on the level of defensive skills performance accuracy in sitting volleyball. The researchers used the descriptive method. The subjects were (18) sitting volleyball players of the ages 18 – 30. They concluded that the percentage of contribution varied a great deal in physical abilities in defensive skills. The highest percent of physical abilities contribution was in defending the court followed by reception. Finally the researchers recommended the necessity of giving coaches extra time in a training session for arms explosive power, flexibility, stamina, agility, transitional speed, balance and muscular strength during the preparation of a physically challenged player.
